How To Use A Saxophone Fingering Chart

Saxophone fingering charts show the keys to press for each note. The saxophone family shares very similar fingering systems, so learning one saxophone makes it easier to play others.

How To Hold The Alto Saxophone

Use the neck strap to support the instrument's weight. Your left hand operates the upper stack keys and octave key, while your right hand covers the lower stack and operates the side keys. Keep your fingers curved and close to the keys.

    The Octave Key

The left thumb operates the octave key. Notes from D5 and above use the octave key combined with the same fingerings as the lower octave.
