Bassoon Fingering Chart
Bassoon fingering chart covering the standard orchestral range.
How To Use A Bassoon Fingering Chart
The bassoon has a complex fingering system with keys operated by both hands and thumbs. Many notes have multiple fingering options to facilitate different musical passages.
How To Hold The Bassoon
The bassoon is held diagonally across your body, supported by a seat strap or neck strap. Your left hand operates the upper keys (including the critical whisper key), while your right hand covers the lower portion.
The Whisper Key
The whisper key (left thumb) is essential for notes in the low and middle registers. It helps focus the tone and improve response.
