Flute Fingering Chart
Complete flute fingering chart with all standard fingerings for concert band and orchestra.
How To Use A Flute Fingering Chart
A fingering chart is a visual guide that shows you which keys to press to produce each note on your instrument. For the flute, the chart displays the keys along the instrument and indicates which ones should be covered or pressed for each pitch.
How To Hold The Flute
Hold the flute horizontally to your right side. Your left hand should be closer to the headjoint, with your index, middle, and ring fingers covering the first three keys. Your right hand covers the remaining keys further down the body. Keep your fingers curved and relaxed, hovering just above the keys when not in use.
Reading The Chart
Black circles indicate keys that should be pressed down. White or empty circles mean those keys should remain open. Some notes have alternate fingerings that may be easier in certain musical passages or help with intonation.
