How To Use A Tuba Fingering Chart

The tuba uses three or four valves similar to other brass instruments. Different types of tubas (BBb, CC, Eb, F) may have slightly different fingering patterns due to their fundamental pitches.

    BBb vs CC Tuba

    • BBb Tuba: Most common in school bands, fingerings shown are for this type
    • CC Tuba: Common in orchestras, some fingerings differ

    Fourth Valve

The fourth valve (when present) extends the low range and provides alternate fingerings for better intonation in certain registers.
